I grew up on a small hobby farm near New Prague where I raised dairy goats, calves, pigs and ducks. Along with caring for our family dog, raising livestock gave me the opportunity to work with animals and sparked my interest in veterinary medicine. With the encouragement of family and mentors in the 4-H program, I started the long path toward becoming a veterinarian.
I graduated from the University of Minnesota with a BS in Animal Science in 1987 and my DVM degree in 1992. I was commissioned in the US Army Reserve in 1987 and served for 13 years as a medical service corps officer and a veterinary corps officer during that time. After graduation, I joined the Waseca Veterinary Clinic and have practiced here ever since.
Waseca has become home for my wife Kris and I and we are grateful to have raised our family here. Working in a mixed animal practice has given me a variety of opportunities and experiences to work with our great staff and clients and serve a variety of animals in our community.
My interests in practice include small animal surgery and dentistry. Outside of practice, we live on a farm with dogs, cats, chickens, and a herd of bison. I enjoy traveling with my family, downhill skiing, golfing, gardening and working on various projects around our farm.
I grew up 30 miles south of Waseca in Clarks Grove. At a young age, veterinary medicine started to interest me as I spent many hours with my father going on country calls and spending time in the clinic. I throughly enjoyed visiting with the clients and interacting with the amazing variety of animals. My observations gave me a strong sense of the profession clinching my decision to become a veterinarian.
I received my B.S. and DVM degree from the University of Minnesota. After graduation, I spent 3 years in a mixed animal practice in Marshall MN. In 2000, my wife(Dr. Kipling Jones-Lang) and I moved to Waseca MN to join the Clarks Grove-Waseca Veterinary Clinic. This has been an amazing community and I am so blessed my family landed here! I am eternally thankful for our amazing clients, animals, and employees!
Away from work, my family and I live on a hobby farm with dogs, cats, horses, chickens, and ducks. I enjoy many outdoor activities including down hill skiing, cross country skiing and traveling to new destinations. I am an active member of our local church and serve on the board of elders . Aside from veterinary medicine, I enjoy aviation. In 1999 I earned my private pilot license and love to spend time flying my airplane and hanging out at the local airport.
Animals have always been an important part of my life. Animals have unique personalities, and are friends, companions, part of the family, and provide people with enjoyment and relaxation. Animals also provide a livelihood for farmers who care for their herd or flock.
Starting at a young age I learned how to care for animals through growing up on a dairy farm in southeast Minnesota. Having grown up with animals and having an interest in science, I graduated from the University Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in 1997. I then went on to practice for four years in Wabasha, Minnesota and came to Waseca Veterinary Clinic in 2001. My wife and I currently have a commercial goat dairy, horses, dogs, cats, and poultry, along with pigs, sheep, cattle,rabbits, and gunea pigs in the past. We have four wonderful children who have helped with the animals, rode horses, showed in 4H, and grew up to love animals as well.
It has been a privilege of mine to help others with their animals. I feel blessed by God to be part of such a rewarding profession that enables me to help farmers and pet owners with the health of their animals. I’m also grateful for the staff at Waseca Vet Clinic, who helps us provide knowledgeable, skillful and compassionate care for the animals and people that we serve.
I don’t remember a time when I wasn’t enamored with the animals and creatures around me, or drawn to the idea of improving their lives and health. Growing up in North Dakota gave me ample opportunity to tag along behind our beloved veterinarian as he cared for our menagerie, both small and large. He and his wife came from over an hour away, so would often stay for dinner. They quickly became treasured family friends, and l would look forward to evenings listening to their touching and humorous tales of daily veterinary life. I was smitten and veterinary medicine became an easy career choice.
After completing college at Concordia, Moorhead MN, I matriculated to the University of Minnesota, where I graduated with my DVM degree and a Masters in Veterinary Pathobiology. I began my exciting career with a wonderful group of fellow animal lovers in Marshall, MN, and my husband, Dr. Lang, as a supportive colleague. We left good friends behind, as we continued our veterinary adventures in Waseca, MN, where we were honored to join the compassionate and talented team at the Waseca Veterinary Clinic. I have been blessed by the opportunity to practice the profession I love with this gifted, caring crew, and to pursue my goal of improving the life and health of each and every one of my amazing patients.
Outside of our clinic, you’ll probably find me enjoying time with family, usually doing something in the great outdoors, or caring for our own furred and feathered misfit herd. Over the years we’ve managed to collect a ragtag bunch made up of horses, dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, various rodents, and the odd rescue critter. All have enriched our lives with their love and humor daily. I now have my own stories of veterinary life, and continue to enjoy the challenges and thrills of this wonderful profession. I remain grateful always for the opportunity to meet and serve the people and animals of the greater Waseca area.
Karla graduated from The University of Minnesota-Waseca in 1986 with an AAS degree in Veterinary Technology, and became a certified Veterinary Technician in 1986. She has been with the Waseca Veterinary Clinic since 1987. Her family includes her daughter, Rue(husband Joel and 3 grandbabies) and her son, Caleb. She enjoys spending time with her grandchildren, walking and spending time with my family and friends.
I have been a receptionist at the Waseca vet Clinic for more than 25 years! This is a very fun place to work, there is always something new and interesting each and every day. In my spare time I enjoy reading books, baking, knitting and watching sports. Oh, I also have two children, Sara and Brian.
Tara attended Ridgewater College in Willmar, MN where she graduated in 2000 with an AAS degree as a Veterinary Technician, and then became certified. After working in Marshall, MN for a short time, my husband Gary and I relocated to the area and I started working at the Waseca Vet Clinic in May of 2001. Outside of work I enjoy reading, scrapbooking, watching the girls play sports, and spending time with my husband and our daughters. We also have 2 dogs, Quinn, an Airedale terrier, and Greta a Gordon Setter. We also have indoor/outdoor cats.
Nicki graduated from Rochester Community & Technical College in 2011, and shortly after earned her CVT. She worked in Faribault prior to coming to the Waseca Veterinary Clinic in December of 2019.
Nicki lives here in Waseca with her husband Mike. They have two grown kids, Bobby and Caylie. She has always had a love of animals and have always had a menagerie in her family. Currently, they have two dogs: Champ – a German Shepherd mix and Molly Mae, a Cocker/Cavalier Spaniel mix, three cats; Angel, Felix and Henry; one Guinea Pig named Penelope,16 chickens, 3 turkeys, and some fish.
In her spare time, Nicki likes to go camping, fishing, going up north to the cabin and working on obedience training with her dogs, as well as spending time with friends and family traveling, playing bingo and going to the casino.
Tiffany graduated from Ridgewater College in Willmar, MN with an AAS Degree as a Veterinary Technician in 2015. She worked at a large animal clinic in Clear Lake, SD before joining the Waseca Vet Clinic in October of 2017. Outside of work, she enjoys running the family farm with her dad, camping, kayaking, snowmobiling and spending time with family and friends. Tiffany has 2 dogs, Foxy, an Aussie X and Bailey, a Border Collie X.
Sam graduated from Rochester Community and Technical College in 2022 where she earned her Associate of Applied Sciences Degree in Veterinary Technology. She worked in Owatonna prior to coming to WVC in October of 2023. Sam is no new face around our clinic, however, as she has been working in the boarding kennel area for a few years now. Sam has always enjoyed working with animals and learning about them. She has a Golden Retriever named Jax. Outside of work, Sam enjoys going to hockey and baseball games, concerts and hanging out with her friends. She also enjoys taking Jax on long drives and adventures out in the woods.
Sara has always had a love for animals. She started at the clinic in March of 2019 as a Kennel Assistant, and in June of 2019 accepted the position of Kennel Manager. Her family includes Husband, Tony, 3 children, adopted Australian Shepherd, Lightning, 4 cats, Turbo, Herkie, Sprinkles and Fritz, as well as many chickens.
Sara enjoys watching her children play sports, traveling, camping, crocheting, reading, and almost anything outdoors.
I am Sofy Clayton from Bogota, Colombia in South America. I came to the United States in 2002. I married my husband Bill Clayton in March of 2003, he and his brother have a dairy farm and milk 45 head of Holstein cattle. I’ve been a pet groomer since 2006. My dreams came true being able to work with the dogs and cats. In my home country I have a degree in Animal Science. I love being a part of the staff at the Waseca Vet Clinic.
